Infos Golf von Nicoya

Die Meeresbucht Golf von Nicoya (spanisch: Golfo de Nicoya) liegt im Nordwesten von Costa Rica zwischen dem Festland und der Halbinsel Nicoya. An ihrem nördlichen Ende mündet der Río Tempisque in die Bucht. Ausgedehnte Mangrovenwälder säumen den oberen Teil des Golfs und schaffen eine einzigartige Biodiversität. Im Golf befinden sich mehrere Inseln, die größte ist die Isla de Chira. Auf einer Landzunge im östlichen Teil des Golfs liegt die Hafenstadt Puntarenas.
